READ: Matthew 16: 17-19. Mat 16:17 And
Jesus answering said to him: Blessed art thou,
Simon Bar-Jona: because flesh and blood hath
not revealed it to thee, but my Father who is in
heaven. Mat 16:18 And I say to thee: That thou art
Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church,
and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Mat 16:19 And I will give to thee the keys of the
kingdom of heaven. And whatsoever thou shalt
bind upon earth, it shall be bound also in heaven:
and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth, it shall
be loosed also in heaven. (NAB)
Whenever the 12 Apostles names are mentioned, Peter's name is always listed first!
Matthew 10:2-4; "The names of the twelve apostles are these: first, Simon, who is called
Peter,.."
Mark 3:16-19: 'Simon whom he surnamed Peter;..."
Luke 6:13-16; 'And when it was day, he called his disciples, and chose from them twelve,
whom he named apostles; Simon, whom he named Peter,..."
Acts 1:13, "...and when they had entered, they went up to the upper room, where they were
staying, Peter and John and James and Andrew,..."

Peter was a recipient of special revelations:
Mt. 16:16-17; "Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jona! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to
you, but my Father who is in heaven.
Acts 10:9-101 "What God had cleansed, you must not call common."

Peter was a recipient of special prophecies:
Mark 13:1-3, "Do you see these great buildings? There will not be left here one stone upon
another, that will not be thrown down.'
Mk. 14:27-31; "Truly. I say to you, this very night, before the cock crows twice, you will deny
me three times."
Jn. 21:18-191 "Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were young, you girded yourself and
walked where you would; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another
will gird you and carry you where you do not wish to go."

Jesus asks, Peter answers:
Mt. 16:15-16, Jesus asks the twelve a question that Peter answers:
"But who do you say the I am?" Simon Peter (Simon the ROCK) replied, "You are the Christ,
the Son of the living God."
John 6:67-68, Jesus asks a question of the 12 Apostles; Peter answered.
"Jesus said to the twelve, "Will you also go away?" Simon Peter (Simon the Rock) answered
him..." "Lord to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life..."

Jesus chose Peter As The Foundation and Head of His Church On Earth:
Jesus chose Peter as the foundation stone; (THE ROCK)! [MATTHEW 16:18]
Jesus told Peter to feed His lambs! [John 21:15-17]

Peter was head of the early Church:
As seen in the fact that he was the first spokesman for the early church!
Acts 1:15, "In those days Peter stood up among the bretheren..."

In the Acts of the Apostles 1:15-26; we see Peter being the first one to address the gathered
believers!
Acts 1:16: "My brothers the scripture had to be fulfilled ... etc."

Then Peter goes on to say that they choose someone to fill Judas' place.
Peter finished his discourse in verse 22; in the next verse the Apostles are already following
his orders!
NO QUESTIONS!!!
When Peter Spoke - whatever he said was considered The Law!

Peter was first in the new Church to preach the Gospel message on which all other preaching
would be based!
Acts 2:14-41; "But Peter, standing with the eleven, lifted up his voice and addressed them,..."

Peter was the first to accept Gentiles into The Church:
Acts 10:47-48; 11:17; St. Peter had made a public declaration to baptize Gentiles without
circumcision!

Peter was responsible for most of the growth of the early Church!
Acts 2:41. "So those who received his (Peter's) word were baptized, and there were added
that day about three thousand souls?"
Acts 4:4 After a discourse given by Peter, the number of men grew to about five thousand
souls."

Peter states that only he and certain other people were chosen to preach the Gospel!
Acts 10:41; "not to all the people, but to us, the witnesses chosen by God in advance, who
ate and drank with Him after He rose from the dead. He commissioned us to preach to the
people."
We see that the Apostles were chosen to preach the Gospel, and the people that the Holy
Split chooses through them such as Mathias!
