Many point out that the Koran calls for the slaughter of all who do not accept Islam - it does.
But, to be fair the Bible does something similar.
One of the differences between Islam and Christianity
is that the Koran "consistently" calls for the slaughtering of all
those outside their faith Chapters 8:12, 8:67, 9 in general, with 9:123 "wage war against such of the infidels as are near you").
While Christianity "consistently" calls for "love of enemies"!
Another, major difference is that Muhammad says that "the sword is the key to heaven" (the quote is from "The Decline and Fall of The Roman Empire", Edward Gibbon). It is no secret that Islam relied on conquering nations in order to get 'converts'.
While Jesus says; "for all that take the sword shall perish with the sword." (Matthew 26:52)
There is a similar problem with Islam and Protestant Christianity, both do not accept a God appointed, central teaching authority.
So, each believer may pick up either the Koran or the Bible and make up their beliefs. There is no direction from God to say whether they are rightly reasoning or not!
Koran/Bible test
CHOOSE THE BIBLE VERSE:
I. The first verse
A. He who follows me, walks not in darkness," says the Lord.
B. "If your own full brother entices you secretly to serve other gods your hand shall be the first raised to slay him.
C. O men, serve your Lord who created you and those before you so that you may guard against evil.
II. The second verse
A. This is the greatest wisdom -- to seek the kingdom of heaven through contempt of the world.
B. drive out all the inhabitants of the land before you;
C. then slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captives and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush
III. The third verse
A. EVERY man naturally desires knowledge; but what good is knowledge without fear of God?
B. "But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land before you, those whom you allow to remain will become as barbs in your eyes and thorns in your sides, and they will harass you in the country where you live
C. If you do not go forth, He will chastise you with a painful chastisement and bring in your place a people other than you
IV. The fourth verse
A. Truly to know and despise self is the best and most perfect counsel
B. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach (to you) a gospel other than the one that we preached to you, let that one be accursed!
C. Do they not know that whoever acts in opposition to Allah and His Apostle, he shall surely have the fire of hell to abide in it? That is the grievous abasement.
The "key"...
the middle verse is from the Bible.
Obviously, Allah is mentioned in number IV, so "C" is from the Koran.
Deuteronomy 13:12 (13:13) "If, in any of the cities which the LORD, your God, gives you to dwell in, you hear it said 13 (13:14) that certain scoundrels have sprung up among you and have led astray the inhabitants of their city to serve other gods whom you have not known, 14 (13:15) you must inquire carefully into the matter and investigate it thoroughly. If you find that it is true and an established fact that this abomination has been committed in your midst, 15 (13:16) you shall put the inhabitants of that city to the sword, dooming the city and all life that is in it, even its cattle, to the sword. 16 (13:17) Having heaped up all its spoils in the middle of its square, you shall burn the city with all its spoils as a whole burnt offering to the LORD, your God. Let it be a heap of ruins forever, never to be rebuilt. 17 (13:18) You shall not retain anything that is doomed, that the blazing wrath of the LORD may die down and he may show you mercy and in his mercy for you may multiply you as he promised your fathers on oath; 18 (13:19) because you have heeded the voice of the LORD, your God, keeping all his commandments which I enjoin on you today, doing what is right in his sight.
3. The Church regards with esteem also the Moslems. They adore the one God, living and subsisting in Himself; merciful and all-powerful, the Creator of heaven and earth,(5) who has spoken to men; they take pains to submit wholeheartedly to even His inscrutable decrees, just as Abraham, with whom the faith of Islam takes pleasure in linking itself, submitted to God. Though they do not acknowledge Jesus as God, they revere Him as a prophet. They also honor Mary, His virgin Mother; at times they even call on her with devotion. In addition, they await the day of judgment when God will render their deserts to all those who have been raised up from the dead. Finally, they value the moral life and worship God especially through prayer, almsgiving and fasting.
Since in the course of centuries not a few quarrels and hostilities have arisen between Christians and Moslems, this sacred synod urges all to forget the past and to work sincerely for mutual understanding and to preserve as well as to promote together for the benefit of all mankind social justice and moral welfare, as well as peace and freedom.
